In the last month, Team Aria competitors have once again been putting Seattle on the map. Last month, our very own Lukas Spisak, dancing with his partner Eva Tibenska, travelled to New York City to compete at the New York Dance Festival, one of the largest dance competitions in the USA, where they won the Professional Rising Star Smooth. The very next weekend, they travelled to Las Vegas to compete at the Las Vegas Open Dance Challenge and won the Professional Rising Star Smooth there, as well. Lukas is taking the country by storm!
Almost immediately after the Las Vegas Open Dance Challenge ended, the Amateur Ballroom Dance National Championships began. While Aria Ballroom owner Kora Stoynova was proud to be invited to judge this prestigious event, Team Aria had a great showing. Multiple couples finished in the finals of their events. Without too much ado, here are some of our most notable mentions:
Edward Brennan and Cecilia Wang finished 4th in the Senior 4 Championship Standard and 2nd in the Senior 4 Championship Latin!
Kai Matthew and Vlada Denysovets finished 4th in the Junior 2 Championship Standard.
Leo Liu and Nicky Lin finished 5th in the Junior 2 Pre-Championship Ballroom and 6th in the Junior 1 Championship Ballroom.
Beckham Wei and Hermione Shen danced in their very first National Championships and placed 7th in the Junior High School Quickstep.
Luke Eugenio and Emily Castro danced a multitude of events and finished 4th in the Junior High Newcomer Rhythm, 4th in the Elementary School Syllabus Latin, 4th in the Elementary School Syllabus Smooth, and 2nd in the Junior High Syllabus Standard!
And lastly, Aria Ballroom instructors Misha Vorobiev and Anya Sydygalieva placed 5th in the Adult Championship Standard Championships!
Enjoy scrolling through some of our pictures below. It was a great National Championships. Congratulations to all of our finalists, as well as the rest of our hard-working couples!
